On January 29th, Pingtouge's official website quietly launched a high-end AI chip called "Zhenwu 810E", and Alibaba's self-developed chip PPU was officially unveiled. At this point, Tongyi Laboratory, which builds the world's top open source big model "Qianwen", Alibaba Cloud, which is the first in the Asia Pacific market, and Pingtou Brother, who develops full stack self-developed chips, have completed their assembly. The Alibaba AI golden triangle "Tongyun Brother" has surfaced for the first time.

Alibaba is building "Tongyun Ge" into an AI supercomputer, which has a full stack self-developed chip called "Pingtou Ge", the Asia Pacific's top Alibaba Cloud, and the world's strongest open source model "Qianwen". It can collaborate and innovate in chip architecture, cloud platform architecture, and model architecture to achieve the highest efficiency in training and calling large models on Alibaba Cloud. Currently, Alibaba and Google are the only two technology companies in the world with top-level capabilities in the three major fields of big models, cloud, and chips.

According to the official website of Pingtou Ge, the "Zhenwu" PPU adopts self-developed parallel computing architecture and inter chip interconnection technology, combined with a fully self-developed software stack, to achieve fully self-developed software and hardware. Its memory is 96GB HBM2e, and the inter chip interconnect bandwidth reaches 700 GB/s. It can be used for AI training, AI inference, and autonomous driving. Alibaba has extensively used the "Zhenwu" PPU for training and inference of the Qianwen big model, and combined it with Alibaba Cloud's complete AI software stack for deep optimization, providing customers with integrated products and services.

According to industry insiders, compared to key parameters, the overall performance of the "Zhenwu" PPU exceeds that of the Nvidia A800 and mainstream domestic GPUs, and is comparable to the Nvidia H20. The upgraded version of the "Zhenwu" PPU has stronger performance than the NVIDIA A100.

The official debut of the "Zhenwu" PPU demonstrates the strength accumulated by Pingtou Brother in the chip field for many years. It is reported that "Zhenwu" PPU has realized multiple ten thousand card cluster deployment in Alibaba Cloud, serving more than 400 customers such as the State Grid, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiaopeng Auto, Sina Weibo, etc.
