Hikvision counterattacks!

The Canadian government recently forcibly shut down Hikvision's business in Canada on the grounds of so-called "national security" and banned Canadian government departments from purchasing or using Hikvision products.

According to Reuters, Chinese manufacturer Hikvision has filed a protest lawsuit against the aforementioned order, and its Canadian company has resumed operations.

The relevant person in charge of Hikvision confirmed this news. He stated that the company officially filed a lawsuit with the Canadian Federal Court on the 7th, requesting the initiation of judicial review procedures. Meanwhile, Hikvision has applied to the federal court for a temporary injunction to suspend the execution of the shutdown order.

Hikvision Canada has now resumed normal operations. We hope to defend the legitimate rights and interests of the company through legal means and strive for fair and just treatment, "Hikvision responded.

Hikvision stated that since entering the Canadian market, it has complied with all applicable laws and regulations, and the company will continue to defend its position that Hikvision's products and technology do not pose a threat to the national security of Canada or any other country/region where the company operates.

On June 30th, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that Canada had forcibly shut down Hikvision's business in Canada on the grounds of "national security" and prohibited Canadian government departments from purchasing or using Hikvision products. The Chinese side strongly disagrees and firmly opposes this. The Chinese government has always encouraged enterprises to conduct international business in accordance with market principles and requires them to strictly abide by the laws and regulations of the host country. The so-called "national security review" process in Canada is opaque and the results are uncertain. The Canadian approach is a typical generalized national security behavior, which not only damages the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, affects the confidence of cooperation between the two countries' enterprises, but also disrupts and damages the normal economic and trade cooperation between China and Canada.
