NVIDIA and Intel announced on September 18th the establishment of a partnership to jointly develop multi generation customized data centers and PC products.

In the data center field, Intel will customize x86 CPUs for NVIDIA, which will be integrated into artificial intelligence infrastructure platforms and launched on the market. In the field of personal computing, Intel will produce and supply x86 system on chips (SOC) integrated with Nvidia RTX GPU chips to the market.

Boosted by this news, Intel's stock price surged by over 30% in pre-market trading, and Nvidia also rose by over 3%.

According to the agreement, Nvidia will invest $5 billion (approximately RMB 35.5 billion) in Intel common stock at a price of $23.28 per share, a discount of about 6.5% from Intel's closing price on Wednesday ($24.9), but higher than the price when the US government invested $20.47 per share last month. After the transaction is completed, Nvidia is expected to hold over 4% of Intel's shares, becoming one of its largest shareholders.

In the future, Intel will adopt NVIDIA's graphics technology in its upcoming PC chips and provide processors for data center products based on NVIDIA hardware. The two companies did not disclose the launch time of the first batch of products and emphasized that their existing product plans are not affected.
