The first batch of GAN semiconductor laser chips put into production

    Recently, the launch conference of the GaN semiconductor laser chip mass production line of Jixin Technology was held in Hall 1 of Lianhua Mountain Villa in Liuzhou City. Liuzhou Mayor Zhang Zhuang attended the conference and announced the official production of the production line. Gan Zizhao, an academician of the CAS Member and a professor of Peking University, Luo Yi, an academician of the CAE Member and a professor of Tsinghua University, Hu Xiaodong, the chairman of Guangxi Quanxin Technology and a professor of Peking University, Tang Zhenguo, vice mayor, Dr. Zong Hua, the general manager of Guangxi Quanxin Technology, and Liu Bochen, the secretary general of the municipal government, witnessed this together.

    Gallium nitride semiconductor lasers currently cover the wavelength range of near ultraviolet (375 nm) to green light (532 nm), and are widely used in important fields such as laser exposure, laser display, laser welding, laser illumination, laser indication, and laser sensing.


    Due to the high technical threshold, only a few top international companies have mastered the production and manufacturing technology of this chip. In order to solve the bottleneck problem of gallium nitride laser chips, in September 2020, Jixin Technology officially signed a contract to settle in the Northern Ecological New Area Smart Grid Industrial Park.


    After more than two years of unremitting efforts, Jixin Technology has built the first domestic mass production line for gallium nitride semiconductor laser chips. The production line includes 8 major process sites and has more than 100 globally leading semiconductor mass production equipment, covering various production links such as substrate, epitaxial, process, and sealing.


    After more than 20 years of hard research and strong support from dozens of national and provincial scientific research projects, the research and development team from Peking University has solved the main scientific and technological problems related to gallium nitride semiconductor lasers, established eight core processes in chip preparation technology, broke the long-term technological monopoly of foreign enterprises, and effectively achieved "overtaking in bends".


    The production line of GaN semiconductor laser chips by Jixin Technology will greatly promote its development as a leading enterprise in the segmented field of the third-generation semiconductor industry in China, driving the formation of a complete third-generation semiconductor industry chain upstream and downstream, radiating across the country and serving the world. In addition, while achieving technological innovation and promoting the reshaping of the industrial chain, Jixin Technology is also committed to building a talent highland for gallium nitride semiconductor technology, continuously gathering high-end semiconductor talents, and continuously cultivating semiconductor backbone forces. This will play a good demonstration effect for Liuzhou City to continue attracting high-quality technology talents.
